Blogger Recognition Award!

I am absolutely delighted to have been given the Blogger Recognition Award by my friend Kristi from the Savvy Schooling blog!  Blogging is a lot of hard work, and much of it is done in silence, alone. Anytime someone goes out of their way to say, “You’re doing good”,  it’s a boost, like a puff of wind in the sails that keeps you moving forward! Encouragement is powerful! This reminds me that I need to work on giving out praise in my daily life! It’s just not something that comes very naturally to me, even though I love receiving any kind of a “gold star!”  So, thank you, Kristi, for this nomination!    Be sure to see the blogs I’ve nominated at the end of this post!

The Blogger Recognition Award!

Why I Am Blogging

I can’t really remember exactly what it was that caused me to start up this Simple Healthy Mom blog. God put a desire in my heart to see something “new” begin in my life this year. In special, personal ways, I was very impressed by the following verses right around January 1st, and they are my theme for the year:

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.  (Isaiah 43:19)

Blogging for J-O-Y

Maybe you’ve heard the recipe for joy is J-O-Y= Jesus, Others, You.  This is the pattern I want to follow for life and for this blog in particular.

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.  (Revelations 4:11)

I want to glorify God by giving Him praise. Luke 19:40 says that if we don’t praise Him the stones would immediately cry out.  The more I know about my God, the more wonderful He is to me, and the more I love Him.  Try to describe how wonderful God is!  The most lavish description we can come up with would still be a feeble understatement.  We could never exaggerate His goodness because He’s bigger and better than words are able to tell.  This is worthy of meditation!

O- Others

The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary:  (Isaiah 50:4)

I hesitate to say that I can claim this verse as mine, but I do desire to be able to encourage someone who is weary.  The faith of other Christians helps me!  We all need to be involved in encouraging one another, especially since we are living in the last days, in what the Bible calls “perilous times.”

Additionally, the Bible tells us that there needs to be some teaching going on among women of faith:

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.  (Titus 2:3-5)

We only have one voice, but we do have one voice!  Use it for the glory of God and to be a help and an encouragement to others!

Y- You

Proverbs 14:23 says, “In all labour there is profit.”  I’m blogging by faith, believing that there is some profit to be had.  I’m really talking about spiritual profit, and not so much about earthly gain.  If I sow seeds of obedience to God, I will reap blessings of His choosing.

Recording and sharing what God is teaching me helps me to retain what I’m learning.  It solidifies the learning in my heart and mind and makes it more sure when I actually put things into words. It’s an exercise that strengthens. Plus, this blog serves as a record of things learned so that I can remind myself again if I start to forget.

Two Pieces of Advice For New Bloggers

  1. Join multiple Facebook groups for bloggers and keep your eyes open for a few buddies who you can connect with.  Most of the people in your real life aren’t going to understand the unique challenges you face as you start blogging. It’s a lot of work without a lot of apparent rewards, and it will be nice for you to be able to talk those issues through with those who get it! Plus, you’ll collaborate and come up with some exciting ideas and projects! Let me know if you want any specific FB group suggestions!
  2. You will struggle with some things as a beginning blogger, but you will improve!  Just keep asking questions and searching around and you’ll get it. I like the quote that I saw somewhere, it’s that “everything is figure out-able!”  Another thing to remember is to be patient! We all have a whole multitude of ideas we’d like to see in reality, but they will take time….lots of time!

It’s my dream to incorporate all her ideas into my own home!  I love simple, clean decorating and that’s what you’ll find on this blog. Her archives date back to 2012, so there’s really a lot of great content to peruse through!

Grace To Soar

Christian blogger, Beka, shares her life lessons learned in a refreshingly honest way.  She posts about real struggles we all face like fear of commitment or fighting against a natural propensity to quit things.  There are also lots of posts with practical advice for wives and mothers! I appreciate her candor and find her writing very relatable!

The Wholesome Housewife

Tiffany shares encouragement for wives and mothers with a Biblical perspective! She’s been at this blogging thing for years and offers helpful how-to’s in that arena as well!  You’ll be blessed by her passion for having a happier, healthier family!

Erin’s passion is, “to encourage everyone to run the race marked out for them with a smile on their face with a good dose of laughter for good measure. You will find encouragement and practical advice as you keep on, keeping on toward a joyful, faith-filled life.”  I think I was first really drawn into this blog when I read Erin’s salvation testimony.  She shares how to have fun as a family, and also dives into more serious subjects like life after miscarriage.  I recommend you go check out her blog and her Instagram!

Well, this has been really fun! Go tell someone they’re doing a good job! They will love it and it’ll make you feel great too!

The power of praise is real! This is the post where I share my "why" for blogging, and hand out 5 nominations to other great bloggers!

  1. It is so true that you will just connect with some of the people you meet through blogging! 🙂 You’ll be surprised to know that Josh is actually the one who started our blog! It just expanded to both of us working on it together once I started learning to bake in earnest. Really enjoyed reading this blog post, Angie! And congratulations on your blog award!
